Service Description

Our After-School Pottery course invites children between 8 - 13 years to explore their creativity, imagination, and curiosity through clay. In this fun and supportive environment, children learn to design and build their own ceramic creations using hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Each week, children work on projects that encourage creative thinking and practical skill-building — from sculpting animals and nature-inspired forms to making functional pieces like cups or plates and using underglaze paints to add colour to their creations. The focus is on the process over perfection, helping children enjoy making, experimenting, and discovering the tactile joy of clay. What’s Included: 3kg clay, tools, glazes, and kiln firings Aprons provided during class Small class sizes (max 10students) Professional instruction in a friendly studio environment Completed glazed and fired pieces to take home at the end of term Benefits for Children Working with clay offers powerful developmental and mental health benefits. It helps children: 🌿 Relax and unwind after a busy school day — the hands-on activity calms the mind and improves focus. ✋ Develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through shaping, smoothing, and decorating. 💭 Build confidence as they see their creative ideas come to life in a tangible way. 🧘 Enhance mindfulness and emotional regulation, encouraging patience and persistence. 💬 Strengthen social skills through collaboration and shared creativity in a supportive studio environment. Each project nurtures imagination while promoting well-being — giving children a creative outlet that builds both skill and self-esteem.
